Newseum

The Newseum was given its name because it is a tribute to the historical news. It is dedicated to journalism and to the heroic journalists who capture it. Using headlines from the past and present they are able to tell the stories of events around the world. The Newseum showcases historical events, powerful stories, famous people, pop culture, comedy, world tragedies, and heroism.

The Front Pages Gallery is filled with front pages of papers from around the world. Group tours have fun in this exhibit, as they try to find articles from their home states.

The 9/11 Gallery is sponsored by Comcast. This exhibit is for those who are learning about or remember that terrible day in our history. Through literature, pictures, and a piece of one of the Towers, and the heroism that arose after the terrorist attack on America the tragedy of September 11th is retold.

You can also see amazing photos in the Pulitzer Prize Photographs Gallery, that show some of the most amazing captions in American history. The photographers who shot these photos were able to catch the emotion, unlike any video or interview ever was able to. You will be grateful to see the amazing award-winning picture, they were able to turn into magnificent films that will tell the stories in history for many years to come.

The faces of journalists who’ve fallen in the line of duty are featured in a beautiful memorial. Pop culture exhibits have pictures and headlines that will show you the lives of icons. News comedy is one exhibit dedicated to the pop culture icons. Your group’s day will surely be brightened as you watch the video included in this exhibit. Other films give you even more insight into the career of journalism.

Visitors also love the Hank Greenspun Terrace with its beautiful view of Pennsylvania Avenue and other landmarks that are there. It gives you a glimpse of Capitol Hill and the tops of the museums on the National Mall. The Avenue is known for funeral processions, and inaugural parades. And who could ever forget the view of the famous American main street?
