Museums

The Smithsonian Institution is home to many of DC’s best museums, most of which are located along the National Mall. Favorites include the Air and Space Museum, which tells the story of space exploration and flight, and the American History Museum, capturing the American spirit through historical artifacts. Other faves include The Museum of African Art, Museum of the American Indian, and The Natural History Museum. Use the expertise of your guide to choose the best museums for your interests or to branch out and try something new.

Museums we love outside of the Smithsonian include the The International Spy Museum, The Museum of Crime and Punishment, and the fascinating Newseum, dedicated to journalists and the headlines they capture around the world.

But this is only the beginning. DC also offers the National Cryptologic Museum, National Law Enforcement Museum, and a museum for the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Black history tours will find many attractions for their theme in our nation’s capital, including the African-American Civil War Museum and the Anacostia Museum & Center for African American History and Culture.

The National Art Gallery and Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden are two of the city’s breathtaking art museums and a part of the Smithsonian Institution, along with even more facilities not listed here. Every DC tour should include several of the City’s impressive museums. The only difficulty will be in choosing which ones to include.
